Welcome to Birmingham—my favorite place on earth because it’s Home. I have lived here all my life and have come to love so many things about it—the hospitality of its people, the deliciousness of its food, the familiarity of its landscape and buildings and roads and (unpredictable) weather. I realize you may be new to this city, and may even be approaching it cautiously or fearfully as I would be if I was moving to a new place.
I recently ate lunch with a current resident from one of the largest specialties. He told me that he couldn’t think of any of his fellow residents who didn’t truly like Birmingham, including several who were not excited about it when they arrived. You may already know you aren’t going to stick around when residency/fellowship is over, but I hope you’re able to say you enjoyed your time here.
Birmingham is currently undergoing an exciting transformation. Downtown and the surrounding areas are alive with construction and restoration projects, urban parks, excellent eateries, craft breweries, and appreciating real estate values. Almost all of my life, people have been trying to get out of Downtown, but now they’re all coming back.
Across the United States, folks are taking notice. In 2015, Zagat named Birmingham the “#1 Next Hot Food City” and Travel Channel included us in the “Next Great Destinations”… in the world! Check out more here about the city’s accolades. Just ask Food & Wine Magazine, who moved their offices here in 2017.
So whether you’re eating barbecue at Saw’s, hanging out with friends at The Collins Bar, checking out the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, catching a Birmingham Legion FC home game, spending the weekend at Barber Motorsports, or hiking at Red Mountain Park, just remember that you landed here at a great time. My wife and I have made a list of our Birmingham favorites and hope it serves as a great starting point.
I want to help. And it isn’t just because I’m in business to sell houses. I thoroughly enjoy working with medical and surgical residents and anyone else who is transferring here. I like showing people around the city and helping them calibrate. I enjoy being an ambassador of Birmingham.
I want to help you in any way I can. If you have questions about the city, its neighborhoods, places to eat, things to do, churches to attend, or anything else, call me. If you’ve decided to rent instead of buying and have questions about that, call me. If you want to talk about why it’s 70 degrees three days after we had an ice storm, call me.
Welcome Home.
